Research in my lab focuses on discovery and processing of electrocatalytic materials for energy conversion and storage.  We use low cost, scalable methods to manipulate the surface chemistry, particle sizes, and pore size distributions of catalytically active materials.  We seek to optimize materials performance in a range of devices including batteries, electrochemical double layer capacitors, and solid oxide fuel cells.  In synergy with this work we use additive manufacturing techniques, like inkjet printing, to fabricate electrocatalytic devices.

I teach General Chemistry I and II, and Instrumental Methods of Analysis.  My pedagogical interests include integration of Application-Based Service Learning into chemistry laboratory courses, development of methods to teach scientific writing, and integration of advanced data analysis software into chemistry laboratory courses.
